Taxi driver heartbroken after only cab is stolen in Maldon

police logoA taxi driver has been left heart broken after his only cab was stolen and set on fire.

Jay Zimrul, of Heywood Way, Heybridge, felt devastated when his Mercedes Vito van was stolen at around 10pm last Monday.

The taxi, worth £8,000, was found burnt out the following morning in Church Street, Great Totham.

Mr Zimrul, who runs the Maldon Taxi business on his own, has now been left without a business and is living with his family on purely savings.

The dad-of-four, who has been a taxi driver in Maldon for nine years, said: “Obviously it’s very upsetting, my whole business has been affected.

“Now I am doing nothing at all.”
